Sometimes we tend to buy small size adult clothing for our kids for outdoor activities, but there are a number of reasons as to why you should buy kids outdoor clothing instead of adult gear.

Not only is kids clothing great for camping and hiking with the family, it's also ideal to keep little ones warm and dry in winter. Fleece jackets and fleece jumpers are ideal for those cool autumn days as they allow easy washing and drying. For those wet days, waterproof jackets are a must. There is plenty of choice of colours and styles for both boys and girls and with warm linings and with breathable fabrics kids waterproof jackets are ideal for those who like to run around.

Kids clothing is sized with smaller cuffs and lengths than adult clothing, creating much better fitting gear. Some clothes also offer 'grow' features which can allow sleeves to be extended as they grow. Hiking boots for kids are lightweight, easy to clean and maintain and many offer Velcro fastening, making it easier for them to get their own boots on and off.

Instead of waterproof jackets for younger kids and toddlers, you may consider dressing them in head to toe suits. Kids should also wear appropriate base layers for outdoor activities and with the choice of natural fibres such as wool or cotton, or harder-wearing synthetic materials available, it will keep them warm whatever option you choose. Don't forget the bright coloured, hard-wearing hat, gloves and scarf, it makes it easier to keep an eye on them on those dull or snowy days.
