Outdoor activities are a great way to keep fit, get some fresh air and have some fun. This country has some beautiful landscapes and walking and hiking are sometimes the only way to get to the most spectacular scenery. If you are getting out and about it is important to have the correct clothing and equipment and be prepared for a sudden change in weather or other unexpected event.

You will need a variety of clothes to suit different conditions; for those who keep their outdoor trips to summer days then a light waterproof jacket will be sufficient to keep you dry and add a good micro fleece to keep any chilly breezes out. A good pair of shoes is probably the most important item of clothing, make sure you try them on with some thick socks, finding out your shoes rub half way through a hike is enough to put you off for life.
For the more extreme walker who will tackle any weather then more layers are necessary. However, avoid big bulky clothes and go for thinner layers instead; you will be more comfortable and can adjust your temperature more easily.
