Caravans are homes from home and like your home, your caravan should have an adequate water system. A water system in a caravan will include pipes, taps, toilets as well of course as a water pump and a water heater. The pump is an essential item in order to ensure that you have easy access to your water supply.
A caravan water pump is usually a submersible pump and these are relatively cheap and lightweight and tend to work efficiently. Their main drawback is that they are not easy to repair if they develop a fault so it is a good idea to have a spare. These pumps need to be placed directly into the water inlet. The 12v pumps carry the water through the water system into the heater and the taps. In-line pumps are also available. The pumps start to work when a tap is used or when the heater is switched on. As with all caravanning accessories there are a wide range of products varying in capacity and price so choose the product that suits your caravan and your requirements.
Water heaters are also now essential items in caravans. Caravan water heaters are operated either by electricity or gas. Electrically operated heaters will require you to be on a site with an electrical hook up. Gas heaters tend to heat up water more quickly but many people do prefer to use electrical heaters particularly if they are only heating a small amount of water. There are some brands of water heater that can be operated by either gas or electricity offering even more flexibility.
